LMLCG – Episode 40 – If There’s So Much You Don’t Know

Takanashi-san seems a little down.

Admittedly, I haven’t really talked much about myself up until now.

Not for any particular reason. I was just enjoying our time at school, and that alone felt like enough.

So I never thought to bring up anything else.

But come to think of it, I’ve never asked Takanashi-san about his daily life or what he likes, either.

That’s an oversight on my part.

But… if he’s saying things like that, it must mean he wants to know more about me, right?

I’m happy…

I want to know more about him too. I want him to tell me more…

“Takanashi-san, ever since we became friends, I’ve enjoyed my time at school so much that I’ve just gone along with it as it was. But after hearing what you said just now, I regret not getting to know your daily life better.”

Yeah, same here. I don’t really talk to Senpai about my everyday life either.

I was so caught up in our current school life, it was all I could think of…

“Since we’re out together like this today, let’s take some time afterward to talk. Let’s ask each other what we want to know and share what we want to say.”

Senpai smiled as she said we should get to know each other more.

“Yes, I’d really like that too.”

“Fufu…”

Senpai smiled happily.

Good…

I’m glad that she also wants to learn more about me.

“Um… this is honestly the first time I’ve seen anything like this…”

“Yeah, I know exactly what you mean. I see it all the time though.”

“They’re completely in their own world, huh? Just staring at each other right in the middle of the store… They’re getting a lot of attention.”

“Even when we’re in a group of three, I often get left behind. I’m used to it now.”

Yeah, I don’t think being in public makes any difference to them.

At this point, it’s just who they are.

“Not sure what they’re talking about, but even with that atmosphere, they still claim to be ‘just friends,’ right…?”

Glad to see he’s catching on quickly.

“Like we discussed earlier, if they don’t find it strange, then it’s all ‘normal’ to them.”

“Sigh… By the way, have they actually decided on the present yet…?”

Hmm, I guess we won’t be able to understand what they’re saying unless we get a little closer…

Since we’ve decided to talk about ourselves, maybe the present can wait until after that.

I might come up with a good idea based on what she tells me.

“Senpai, would you like to have lunch before it gets too crowded?”

“Yes, that sounds wise… Um, actually, if you don’t mind, there’s a café with an open terrace nearby. Would you like to talk over a light meal there?”

“Yes, let’s go with that.”

We left the store and made our way to the café.

On the way, we passed through the boutique area.

While we were walking, I happened to glance into a shop that specialized in cute, girly clothes, just like what Senpai is wearing today.

Even the mannequins and staff looked dressed in her style…

!?

That store… let’s make it our first choice.

We ordered some sandwiches and drinks, then sat at one of the tables on the open terrace.

“Shall we eat?”

“Yes.”

I got a roast beef sandwich. Senpai picked the chicken salad and tomato one.

It probably won’t be enough food, honestly, but I can’t exactly order two or three right now…

“This is my first time having lunch at a fancy place like this. When it’s just guys, we usually go for ramen or something quick.”

“Natsumi often finds interesting places for us, so I just leave it to her.”

That comment is going in the right direction. I should try asking her more.

“I see. Do you go out often on your days off, Senpai?”

“Natsumi often invites me out, so while I don’t buy anything in particular, I do enjoy window shopping.”

“Is that so? Do you have any hobbies you do at home?”

“I’m not sure if it counts as a hobby, but I enjoy reading books. When I have no plans, I do housework or study… Sometimes, I help out at my grandma’s house… at the shrine.”

I see.

Shrines always seem busy. It sounds like there’s quite a lot to do there.

In my head, I had imagined her on weekends sipping tea and reading quietly… but it turns out she’s doing housework and helping out her family…

And since her bento tastes so amazing, she must be pretty good at cooking too.

Senpai really is the domestic type…
