Our very happy lunch came to an end.

After a short break, we were supposed to start watering the flower bed, but before that, there’s something I need to talk about.

First, I need to properly say thank you.

“Thank you for the meal, Senpai. I’ve said it many times before, but it was really delicious. Especially the hamburger steak, It was amazing. It’s been a long time since I’ve had such a wonderful meal.”

In fact, ever since I started living on my own, my meals have been either food from a convenience store or instant noodles.

Occasionally, I’ll splurge a bit and get something nice from a bento shop.

I can’t cook, and well, it’s a pretty common story… I do my laundry, though all at once, when I start running out of clean clothes.

“I’m glad you enjoyed it. Then it seems it’s okay if I keep making them, starting from tomorrow.”

    ?

Did she say “starting from tomorrow”?

“Wait, Senpai, you mean you’ll keep making lunch for me!?”

“Yes. Grandma also asked me to take care of you. Besides, I always cook for myself anyway, so it’s just a matter of making an extra portion.”

“I mean, Senpai, I’m really happy, but even if it’s not hard for you, just once in a while is enough! I’d feel too guilty otherwise!!”

Even if it’s out of gratitude, every day would be way too much.

I’m happy, but I’m not so bold as to casually say, “Okay, please.”

“I’m really fine with it, okay?”

“No, this is about how I feel too. I truly appreciate it, Senpai, but please, just occasionally.”

Senpai looked into my eyes, thought for a moment, and then smiled.

“I understand. If that’s how you feel, Takanashi-san, then I won’t do it every day. But rather than ‘occasionally,’ may I at least make you lunch once a week?”

    Senpai offered a compromise.

Honestly, I do want to eat her cooking. If it’s once a week, maybe it won’t be too much of a burden for Senpai…

“Alright, then I’ll trouble you for that. I’m really sorry. But thank you, it makes me happy.”

“Okay then, shall we decide on a day of the week? I’m fine with any day.”

“No, please go with whatever day is most convenient for you, Senpai. I mean, not to sound lazy, but I only ever bring rice balls anyway.”

“…If you don’t mind me asking, um… What about your family…?”

“Ah, no, I do have a family. I’m just living alone right now.”

Senpai asked anxiously, but after hearing my answer, she looked relieved.

She must have been wondering if she had asked something she shouldn’t have.

“I see. And you don’t cook for yourself?”

“Right. I can’t really cook, but my mother’s older sister… My aunt makes dinner for me.”

…Of course, that was a lie. If she knew how bad my diet really was, I felt like she’d get mad at me, so I lied.

“I see. That explains the rice balls for lunch.”

    “Yeah.”

“I understand. Then I’ll prepare a bento for you based on my own schedule, okay?”

    “Sorry, thank you very much.”

“Not at all. Now then, let’s water the flower bed…”

“Ah, before that, can I bring up one more thing? It’s about this morning.”

I brought up the main topic.

“This morning? Do you mean when I came by to greet you, Takanashi-san?”

“Yes. I was happy, but the idiots in class came swarming, and things got noisy. I feel like I ended up causing trouble for you, Senpai.”

“…It was certainly troublesome, or perhaps more like a nuisance.”

So she does think it was a nuisance!

But… I feel like she’s giving me special treatments, and to be honest, I’m happy…

“So, while I’m happy to see you in the morning, if you come all the way to the classroom, it might bring you unnecessary trouble…”

    “…Takanashi-san, I have a suggestion.”

Senpai paused for a moment, lifted her index finger next to her face, and spoke up.

    So cute…
